On Nejjarine Square, opposite the Wood Arts Museum, stands a truly fascinating shop. Not only is it the oldest antique business in the medina, passed down for generations by one of Fez’s most distinguished families, but it is also a veritable Ali Baba’s cave, filled with mesmerizing treasures and decorative objects.
Samir, the owner—and a dear friend—has even donated a collection of antique wooden pieces to the museum, a hidden source of pride for him. Knowing him well, I can say that he takes no vanity in it.
Beyond the aged cedarwood carvings and authentic African masks, the shop is also home to an exquisite selection of silver jewelry. This is where we come to buy ours, as Samir takes the time to test the metals, ensuring that what is precious is truly so. Because one must always know what they are buying!
